We all know what’s going on out there…high unemployment…layoffs….hiring freezes….wages freezes, etc. So, if you have a good job; maybe even just a decent job , why would you be silly enough to consider making a career move in today’s economy?
The question really is, that even though you are happy to be employed, are you Really happy? Are the reasons why you considered making a job change 8 months ago still there? Are you just "waiting it out", but still in the same frame of mind? If your answer is "YES", then you should still be looking for new opportunities, despite today’s economic conditions. Companies are still hiring, just not at the same pace they were previously, and if you happen to have a background that is highly sought after, you may be in a better position to apply for opportunities simply because more people are sitting tight and not applying. Hence, the competition is actually less hearty than it was a year ago! You certainly want to be selective, but there may still be a better opportunity out there for you! Something to consider as you never want to stop evaluating your prospects, even in a bad economy.
Stay cool out there, everyone!
